Children of homeowners facing eviction over the holiday period, eat a meal as they protest against their plight outside the bank office by eating their Thanksgiving dinner on it's doorstep, in Long Beach on November 24, 2010. The Obama administration recently stepped up its efforts to combat a mortgage foreclosure crisis, but said it had so far found no data suggesting knock-on "systemic" failures in the financial system. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan vowed after a high-level White House meeting to make banks found to have erred in processing foreclosures take responsibility, amid fears the episode could stifle the tentative recovery in the housing market and harm the wider economy. Fears of wider exposure escalated in recent weeks after major banks and servicers halted foreclosures to review paperwork, after evidence surfaced that some documents were signed without proper vetting.
